Camco OM Series Kick Over Tool
Camco ‘OM’ series Kickover tools are used to install 1 ½” OD side pocket subsurface control devices into Camco side pocket mandrels fi tted with an orienting sleeve, or to retrieve side pocket subsurface control devices as required. A running or pulling tool must be attached to these tools in order to perform the operation.
Especially suited to highly deviated wells, the OM Kickover tools consists of a fishing neck with a threaded pin connection on the upper end, a locating fi nger, kick springs, an arm assembly with a threaded box on the lower end for connection of running or pullingtools and an arm housing.
An upward movement of the tool in the side pocket mandrel will position the locating finger in the mandrel orientation sleeve and rotate the tool into alignment with the side pocket. An over-pull against the orienting sleeve will allow tool movement where the kick springs will become active, pivoting the arm and attached running/pulling tool directly above the side pocket. The arm housing protects the arm and attached devices during installation and retrieval.
A spacer bar is required when retrieving subsurface control devices. The tools do not incorporate a knuckle joint, but a knuckle joint is recommended to be run directly above the KOT tool.
The OM series of kickover tools includes the following models:
• OM-5
• OM-2V
• OM-1-D
• OM-1
All these tools share the same basic features however some differences exist between different models as follows:
OM-5, OM-2V and OM-1 tools can be re-pinned without disassembly and feature stainless steel arm assemblies.
The OM-1 requires minimal disassembly to re-pin.
The OM-2V features a selective orienting system for use with mandrels that have two pockets.
