The DU pulling tool enables continuous downward jarring to latch the fish neck without risk of prematurely shearing the jar-down-to-release pin, this allows the operator to overcome any slight obstruction around the fish neck.
Once an over pull has been obtained, the Operator can now apply continuous upward jarring to recover the assembly. This will move the DU pulling tool into the pre-release position.
Should the operator be unable to recover the assembly, the DU Pulling tool will now be in its final pinning sequence and can be jarred down to shear, in the same way as a conventional GS pulling tool. However, the design of the DU Pulling Tool is such that it can be released from the fishing neck even where the DU does not shoulder out.
